Maryland Clean Energy Grant
Solar $1,000 / Geothermal $3,000 / Battery $5,000
Maryland Energy Administration runs the Clean Energy Grant program — paying $1,000 for residential solar PV, $3,000 for geothermal heat pumps, and $5,000 for battery storage. The grants are first-come, first-served against annual budget allocations and typically deplete by mid-year. Maryland also offers a separate solar SREC market through the state RPS (paying $200+/MWh historically) and a property tax exemption on solar-added home value. Combined with federal 25D, Maryland delivers strong stacked solar incentive value despite a modest solar resource.

Maryland residential property owners. No income cap on the base grant.
When to apply?
Apply as early in the fiscal year as possible. Funding typically depletes by April–June.

Stacking with other programs
Stacks with federal 25D, Maryland SRECs ($200+/MWh historically), Maryland property tax exemption, and EmPOWER Maryland utility rebates (separate program). Maryland's combination of state grant + SRECs makes it one of the strongest solar markets on the East Coast despite modest sun.
