Combined with the federal 25C credit (HPWH shares the $2,000 sub-cap with whole-home heat pump), the total stack on a $5,000 HPWH install delivers $1,500–$2,000 in incentives — frequently reducing net cost to comparable to or below a conventional gas water heater.
